Rubberduck Me
Terms of service

Rubberduck Me is in early access and offered free of charge. It explains pull requests; it does not review them. You remain responsible for what you merge.
1. Agreement
These terms are between you and the operator of Rubberduck Me (“we”, “us”). By installing the extension or using the service you accept them. If you are using it for an employer, you confirm you may accept these terms on their behalf.
2. What the service is
Rubberduck Me is a browser extension and a hosted service that reads a GitHub pull request and explains it: a spoken and written summary, a guided walkthrough of the diff, and answers to questions about the code. It is in early access, is limited to invited organisations, and requires an owner of your GitHub organisation to install our GitHub App.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You need a GitHub account, and access is granted through your organisation's installation of our GitHub App. You are responsible for activity under your account. By using the service you confirm you are permitted to have the repositories your organisation selected read and processed as described in the privacy policy.
4. Your content
Your code, pull requests and questions remain yours. We claim no ownership. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, transmit and process that content solely to provide the service — which, as the privacy policy describes, includes sending pull request diffs and your questions to our AI and text-to-speech providers, and storing them so tours can be reused.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit the content you point the service at.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to access repositories you are not entitled to;
- attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or circumvent the service's access controls or rate limits;
- use it unlawfully, or to build a competing model or dataset;
- submit content you have no right to submit.
6. What it produces
The explanations are generated by a language model. They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or confidently misleading. Rubberduck Me is a reading aid, not a code review: it does not check whether a change is correct, secure, performant or appropriate, and it is not a substitute for review by a person. You are responsible for everything you write, approve and merge.
7. Third-party services
The service depends on GitHub, Anthropic, a text-to-speech provider and Amazon Web Services. Your use of it is also subject to GitHub's terms, and the content you submit is handled by those providers under their own terms. We are not responsible for their acts or outages.
8. Availability and changes
There is no service level agreement during early access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service, and may impose usage limits. We will try to give notice of significant changes, but cannot promise it.
9. Fees
The service is free during early access. If we introduce charges we will give notice beforehand, and you may stop using it.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop at any time by uninstalling the extension; an owner of your organisation can revoke access entirely by uninstalling the GitHub App. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached, or if we discontinue the service. Data retention after termination is described in the privacy policy.
11. Intellectual property
The extension, the service and the Rubberduck Me name and artwork are ours. These terms grant you no rights in them beyond using the service as intended.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept it.
